For this trip to Beijing, we decided to stay at the Intercontinental hotel located on Financial Street. While the location is out of the way for tourist activities, all of the taxi drivers we used have no problem finding the hotel. This was very different from a couple years ago when basically none of the taxi drivers knew about Financial Street.
We booked the luxury weekend rate which included breakfast, but due to our top-tier Royal Ambassador status, we were granted Club Intercontinental Lounge Access with an Executive Club floor room.

While the room was spacious, it was very similar to the Holiday Inn that we recently stayed at in Beijing, so we were a little disappointed.

I don't think there is any significant difference in the size of our room and the non-Executive rooms. Since our original rate alrady included breakfast, getting lounge access only gave us minimal additional benefit.
At least there were enough space for the light luggages we were traveling with.
Complimentary shoe shine was available, and I took advantage it for my boots.
Complimentary internet access was available in the room, I cannot recall whether this was due to the club floor or our Royal Ambassador status.
A DVD player along with LCD TV provide for entertainment, and since we bought some DVD of western movies, Alex actually used the DVD player quite a bit.
Slippers are provided for all of us.
The TV application is available in both Chinese and English versions.
Bottle water were already placed on the night stand when we got to the room.
It looks like all of the rooms are the same size, with the exception of the corner ones.
As our normal procedure, we always request that the Air Conditioning to be set to the colder temperature possible, since we like a cool room. However, the room got warmer and warmer as we stayed in it, and reached 26.4 degrees centigrade, approximately 80 degrees farenheit.

We opened the windows but since the building has a slight positive pressure, there is no air coming in from the window at all. Calling the maintenance department did not help, and they said that since it was the winter months, the AC is not operating, and only tried to adjust down the temperature for us.

To make a long story short, the room never cool below 80 degrees, and Huey actually got quite ill from the combined temperature and lack of air flow.

The bathroom is decent size, and similar to recent trends, have a glass window partition between it and the rest of the living space.
A separate tub and shower is installed.
